Element RC Gaterunner 2WD: A 1/10 Desert Truck Kit With RC10B6 Front Suspension
Element RC, part of Associated Electrics, announced the Gaterunner 2WD Kit on October 8, 2026. It is a 1/10 scale, two-wheel-drive desert truck sold as a builder's kit (part #40144), pairing race-derived independent front suspension with a trailing-arm solid rear axle and a scale cab-and-cage body. Associated lists it on pre-order at $379.99 with shipping expected in October.
What's new
The Gaterunner is a new platform rather than a re-body of an existing Element truck. It sits on a hard-anodized bronze chassis with a new brace and support system, and the front end borrows its independent suspension design from the Team Associated RC10B6 race buggy.
The styling was inspired by the builds of Dave from the My Build Projects channel. The clear Ecto cab and rear cage body set includes injection-molded fuel cell and radiator details, a roof-mounted light bar that accepts 3mm LEDs, a detailed interior with driver and co-driver figures, and a screen-printed decal sheet that matches the box art.
Chassis and drivetrain
Up front, the IFS uses steel tie rods, ball cups, and ball studs with a blue-anodized aluminum arm mount, plus a black aluminum bumper skid plate braced to a G10 shock tower. The rear uses Element's Enduro GKS trailing-arm suspension with an anti-roll bar and a new one-piece axle housing containing an open gear differential with metal ring, pinion, and planetary gears.
Power runs through a center-mounted transmission with an adjustable CNC aluminum motor mount, a carbon fiber brace, and slider driveshafts with aluminum inserts. Factory Team threaded aluminum fluid-filled shocks, full ball bearings, and a battery area sized for 2S LiPo shorty packs round out the spec. It rolls on licensed General Grabber X3 tires mounted to silver Method 701 Trail Series 3-piece beadlock wheels.
Published dimensions do not agree between sources. Associated's product page lists 457.2mm (18 in) length, 279.4mm (11 in) width, and a 317.5mm (12.5 in) wheelbase, while RC Car Action's posted spec list shows different figures. We are using the manufacturer's numbers here.
What you'll need to finish it
This is a full kit, so electronics are not included. Associated lists a servo, motor, ESC, battery, radio and receiver, and charger as required to complete. Its suggested pairing is a Reedy RT3507A low-profile servo, a Sonic 540-SP5 13.5T brushless motor, a Blackbox 600Z-G2 ESC, and a Reedy 2S 3000mAh shorty LiPo. The body set ships clear, so plan on finishing it yourself.
